Barry’s business ventures have been varied. Early in his career he was a partner in a wholesale liquor distributor. Then he was a partner in an oil and gas company. Later he formed a securities brokerage company as well as a SEC registered investment advisory company. Barry has been quoted as a real estate expert in the such periodicals as New York Times, Forbes, Business Week, US News, Barrons, and The Wall Street Journal.
For the last 30 years he has focused on income-producing real estate (besides poker of course).
Barry has formed 24 real estate deals as a principal. Of those, 19 have been sold with a total value exceeding $100MM. Every deal has been profitable and no investor has ever lost a penny in any of these deals.
For many years he has been the single largest (or exclusive) investor in every building he has purchased. Sometimes other investors are invited to join.
His most recent purchase is a building in Romulus MI, rented to Davita Dialysis for 10 years. They are a NYSE company with almost $2 billion net worth. Their average rent for the period is almost 10%.
